Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 Duetto 105 Series 1966 "Boattail" / "Ossi di seppia"– Fully Restored, Documented, and Ready for the True Enthusiast

This Alfa Romeo was completely restored over six years ago, with the entire process documented in a detailed photo book. Alongside the photo documentation, all invoices for the restoration and replacement parts are included.

The car’s history is partially known. It rolled off the factory line on December 15, 1966, and was delivered to its first owner in Frankfurt on January 18, 1967. Around 1984, the car was seen driving in Berlin. After an accident, it spent several years stored in a barn until the previous owner began restoration around 2001. We purchased it six years ago as an unfinished restoration project. In 2019, the car underwent a complete bare-metal rebuild. After the restoration was completed in July 2020, I personally imported it from Germany.
In recent years, several optimizations have been carried out, including:

New shock absorbers
New rear brake discs
New water pump
New ignition cables
Original Jaeger-type oil pressure sensor
Gearbox overhaul
Recently fitted 123 electronic ignition with new spark plugs
Fresh oil and filter change last summer

As often seen in the automotive world, the first design of a new model is the strongest. The Alfa Romeo Spider, introduced in 1965, is no exception. Designed by Pininfarina, the Spider gained worldwide fame when featured in The Graduate with Dustin Hoffman in 1967. Americans affectionately nicknamed it the “Boattail.”
This particular Alfa Romeo is one of the early Spiders equipped with the Dunlop braking system, 15-inch wheels, and original reverse lights. Many original parts are still present, including the jack and owner’s manual.
