The 3000 sports convertible Mark III was announced in February 1964 with a power increase from 136 bhp to 150 bhp due to a new higher lift camshaft. SU HD8 carburetors replaced HS6 units and increased the choke size from 1.75 to 2 inches, or a total area of 6.3 square inches, which was an increase of 30.6%. Power brakes became standard rather than optional. The fascia of the new car showed the speedometer and rev counter directly in front of the driver. The upholstery was now Ambla vinyl.
The Mark III BJ8 remained in production until the end of 1967, when production of the Austin-Healey 3000 ceased.
In May 1964 the Phase II version of the Mark III was released, which gained ground clearance through a modified rear chassis. In March 1965 the car was given separate indicators.
17,712 Mark IIIs were produced
The Austin Healey presented here is still a very cool car that has never been restored. The body still looks fantastic as well as the seams. The interior is still original and also looks very good. Under the hood you can see the original engine that runs great but could perhaps be polished a bit. This is only for the view of the engine. It is the Phase 2 variant which means that this Healey has a slightly higher ground clearance. These are the most sought-after models of the Austin Healey. A very nice Healey for a competitive price!
