The Mercedes-Benz 300 was presented at the IAA in April 1951, and now the world’s oldest car manufacturer had another large representative car in its programme. As was customary at Daimler-Benz, the 300 model was constantly being developed further. When the 300 d was presented in August 1957, the new factory designation W 189 was intended to make it clear that the extensive changes meant it was almost a new design. A total of 3,033 limousines were produced in the traditional design with a separate chassis. Our Mercedes-Benz 300 d limousine was registered in Germany on 22 March 1960 and has been in current ownership since 2012. It is an older restoration in which great attention was paid to correctness and maintaining the originality. The elegance of the prestigious bodywork is emphasised by the dark blue paintwork. The power steering makes driving easy and the powerful six-cylinder engine with its manual gearbox really comes into its own.
