Mercedes-Benz 300 d Cabriolet D 1958

At Mercedes-Benz, the turn towards an intregal body was well advanced. Only the large limousines were still traditionally built on a separate chassis. The Type 300 even underwent a fundamental relaunch as the 300 d. Fuel injection engine, power steering and automatic transmission were possible. The four-door Cabriolet D was also hand-built. Only 65 examples were built between July 1958 and February 1962, i.e. three in two months. After the end of production, voices were raised that limousines should be converted into convertibles. Because of the separate chassis design, this was technically possible. This is how our Mercedes-Benz 300 d Convertible D came into being. The skilful conversion can only be recognised by the chassis number. The four-door convertible looks extremely elegant and prestigious in its colour combination. The “real” D-Cabriolets are rare and very expensive. That makes our D-Cabriolet an interesting conversion.
