The Mercedes-Benz 560 SL was part of the R107 series, a line of luxury roadsters that Mercedes-Benz produced from 1971 to 1989. It is also prominently featured in the classic American TV show Dallas, which aired from 1978 to 1991. On the show, the car was used by Bobby Ewing, one of the central figures. The Mercedes was a fitting choice for a character living in the wealthy oil-rich world depicted in the series, and it plays a memorable part of the show's portrayal of 1980s wealth and extravagance. Released in 1985, the 560 SL has a unique blend of luxury and performance. It was the most powerful and luxurious version of the R107, featuring a 5.6-liter V8 engine, delivering about 230 horsepower. It also featured an automatic transmission, leather seats, air conditioning, power windows, and a fully independent suspension, making it a smooth, comfortable ride. This 1989 560 SL was purchased new at Jerry Gámez, Claridges Ltd in Freemont, California by a Portuguese immigrant who later brought it to Portugal in 1998. This is probably one of the best preserved 560 SLs in the World as it’s only covered 26,000 miles (41,000 km) and was never restored or repainted. It is all original and shows very few signs of use. It is fitted with all the available extras of the period, including the Becker Grand Prix stereo, 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels and cruise control. It is delivered with factory hardtop and all the manuals and service booklets, including the original window sticker.
