Rolls-Royce 20/25 HP 1927

1927 Rolls Royce 20HP Barker Barrel sided style Tourer. Chassis Number: GHJ18 Registration Number: DS6520 Rebodied in the late 1970's at the behest of one Peter Parker Who employed John Foy to under take the work. The body is thus a very exacting recreation of the original few & far between Barker Barrel sided tourers. In addition other then the new body a thorough & painstaking mechanical rebuild was also undertaken to exacting standards. This is minutely noted in a set of engine builders notes running to some 6 pages. An overdrive unit was at the same time sourced from Fiennes Engineering & correctly installed making the car very relaxed at speed & giving it long legs for modern traffic conditions. Needless to say the car runs in utter silence with a strong powerful engine. THe engine bay is very tidy with the original undertrays in situ. The exterior paintwork is good maroon over black with a bare aluminium bonnet. To the interior is maroon leather again in good order but with the red dye removed on the back of the drivers seat as it was marking the owners light coloured jacket. A lovely burr walnut dash board completes the ensmble with a full quota of original unstrumentation. The little used hood is easy to unfurl & erect being secured with two thumb type screws. A pair of full length tonneau coveres come with the car affording some security when the car is left unattended. Twin walnut picnic tables are also fitted for the use of the rear passengers. The car as a whole has a light & delightful patina of use to it. It has been under th present ownership for 15 or so years & has always performed flawlessly. The onset of old age now dictates it being time to sell it. The car is currenly near Ilminster in Somerset where it may be viewed by prior appointment. I have to stress how well this car drives with huge oil pressure & a cool running engine. It is way way above average with tens of thousands of pounds having been lavished upon it to put it into tip top order.
