Right after the new Mercedes 230 SL was introduced in Juli 1963, Mercedes started working on upgrades and in December 1965 its successor, the 250 SL arrived. There were three significant changes: disk brakes for front and rear axles, oil cooler, an engine with 2.5 l capacity and seven-layer crank shaft. With only 5,196 models, the 250 SL is a rarity since in January 1968 Mercedes already introduced the 280 SL.
