Vincent Motorcycles was a British manufacturer of motorcycles from 1928 to 1955. The company was founded by Philip Vincent who purchased an existing manufacturing name HRD. From 1934, two new engines were developed: a 500 cc single-cylinder and a 1,000 cc V-twin. The 1948 Vincent Black Shadow was the fastest production motorcycle in the world at the time. In 1955 the company discontinued motorcycle production after suffering further heavy financial losses.
